The Aiken County Courthouse is located on Park Avenue in downtown Aiken, SC. Probate records are open to the public for research. Call for hours of availability.

The original courthouse, built in 1872, at 320 Colleton Avenue, burned down in the 1970's. Early records housed there were lost to the fire. I have been unable to locate a photo of the building.

 

The current courthouse was built in 1882 and underwent renovations in 1954.

In 1981, the bell tower was struck by lightening. The building underwent repairs and expanded renovations.

The Charles E. Simmons Federal Courthouse located at 223 Park Avenue SW, Aiken SC 29801, was built in 1935 and appears on the National Register of Historic Places.
