Willis PATE (CSA) was born in Marlboro County, South Carolina on July 26, 1829. He married Novella Rachel Newton on December 28, 1851. They were married by Reverend Cornelius Newton.

Willis Pate was a Confederate, Civil War Veteran. He joined Company F of the 21st Regiment of the South Carolina Volunteer Infantry, which was organized on November 12, 1861. He mustered on Jan 1, 1862 and was assigned to Hagood's Brigade, Hokes Division, 1st Corp Army of Tennessee for the majority of the War. Their first assignment was defense in and around Charleston, South Carolina. Their last battle assignment was fought near Bentonville, Virginia, March 9th thru the 21st of 1865. Their Regiment was surrendered by General Joseph E. Johnson at Durham Station in Orange County, NC on April 26, 1865.

After the war, Willis Pate came home and continued his life as a Farmer.
