LYLES/NELSON
I am researching the couple William Clark LYLES and "Mattie" E. NELSON, and have determined that Mattie was originally from Rock Hill, York County, SC. She was born 11 July 1862 (unproven) and died only 35 years later on 6 September 1897. She and her husband and infant daughter are all buried in Fairfield County. What I am searching for is some record of her birth and her marriage to William Clark LYLES. I have to assume that they may have married in York County, as it is said to be her birthplace. Their first child was born in 1886 in Rion, Fairfield County, SC. But I have been unable to locate any record of their marriage there. If there is anyone with access to birth or marriage records during this time period I would greatly appreciate anything you can tell me. Thanks so much, Tammy Colson

ADAIR/FAIRES
I'm searching for information on John Adair who married Jean Faires daughter of James Faires and Jean Adair abt. 1789 in York Co., SC. I am trying to find out where John Adair came from before that. I've been told this was the only Adair family in York Co. SC at that time. Some people are trying to tell me that these two people are the same as a John Adair who married JANE (Farris) KILGORE and lived in the Duncan Creek area of Pendleton Co., about that time. I do not think this is true because John Adair was listed as head of household in York Co. census in 1800 & 1810 but only Jean Adair was listed as head of household in 1820. Thanks so much for any clarification you can give me.

CLARK/GRINER/KIDD
I am researching the CLARKS of the Waxhaw region. JAMES CLARK b. c1805 SC. Married to ELVINA ...?... b. 1810-11 SC. Moved to Marion Co., GA in the 1830s. In their household were three children from SC that were living with them on the 1850 census of GA: REBECCA KIDD age 5, WILLIAM KIDD age 17, and JOHN MORROW age 20. Are any of these children kin to James or Elvina? A JANE KIDD was living with James and his second wife, MAHALA, in 1870 as recorded on the census of GA. She was 26 in 1870. JAMES died at 21 yrs of illness, SUSAN farmed with mother after James death, married late to Mr. Fincher of Doerun, GA and ELEY who married ELLA MAE GRINER of Mitchell Co., GA. Two children: JAMES ELIAS and NORA ALZETA. If anyone has information on these people please e-mail me. Nora
