Know all men by these presents that I JAMES BENNETT Senr. of the District of Spartanburgh and State of South Carolina being weak in Body but sound in mind and memory do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first I give to my daughter ELIZABETH EDWARDS one Dollar. 2nd I give to son ROWLAND one Dollar. 3rd I give to daughter SELAH one Cow. 4th I give to my son WILLIAM one dollar. 5h I give to my daughter ANNE one Shilling. 6th I give and bequeath to my four sons namely MARK, JAMES, HIRAM and RIAL (JORIAL) the tract of land I now live on, to be equally divided. 7th I give to my son RIAL one Horse, Bridle & Saddle. 8th I give to my daughter MARY one bed and furniture, also one cow and calf to sheep. 9th I give to my daughter SALLY one dollar. I give to my daughter JEAN (JANE, JENNIE), one bed and furniture, one cow. Also my will is that if my two grand sons AARON & ARTHUR TURLEY lives with me till they are twenty one years of age that they shall have each of them a Horse, Bridle & Saddle. Also my will and desire is that my beloved wife SALLY should have all the remainder of my estate during her natural life, and after her death to be equally divided amongst all my surviving children. Lastly, I constitute and appoint my beloved wife and my son MARK the Executors to this my last will & testatment, as witness my hand and seal this day December 11th 1816.

The last will & testament of JAMES BENNETT, decd, was proven on the 24th day of October, 1825. By evidence of William Grist, Richard Hewett & Col. Isaac Smith. By whom in the handwriting of the testator and three of the witnesses were proven THOMAS BOMAR, O.S. D
