Ethel Jennings Bullington (1884 – 1962) was a resident of the Jennings Orphanage in Spartanburg County in 1891.  A Carolina Spartan Newspaper article on the Jennings Orphanage published September 23, 1891 reported: “With these five Mr. and Mrs. Jennings began to think their hands were full, but before they took much time to count the cost, Nellie and Ethel, who were sisters, joined the happy group.”  Ethel Jennings was taken in by the J. F. Bobo family in Roebuck by 1900.  She remained there until her marriage to William Harrison Bullington (1875 – 1943), of Roebuck, in 1910.

Ethel took the name of the Jennings as her last name.  Her birth name has never been discovered.

The images posted here are pages from her autograph book she received on Christmas 1899, which bears notes and signatures of a number of Spartanburg County residents.
