Reedy Creek School had its roots in Springville Academy, established circa 1870 at Manning's Crossroads for students from the surrounding area. In 1875, the name was changed to Reedy Creek School and it moved into a new building beside the Reedy Creek Presbyterian Church. Two years later the building burned and classes were held in the church while the school was rebuilt.
