The discovery of a 1962 survey of Fairmont Memorial Cemetery by Nash A. Odem led Linda Brown
to have a look at this old cemetery in search of her ancestors' tombstones.
The cemetery is not in good shape (2003). Linda wrote: "many of the tombstones are hidden
in the dirt. They have broken off their base and after many years............... leaves,
poison ivy and dirt have covered them (about 4 to 6 inches under). If it had not been
for this list, my daughter and I would never have known where to dig. " We are so very grateful
to Mr. Odem for preserving this data.

First) Cemetery. It is located on Main St. in Fairmont beside the present
building of the Fairmont First Baptist Church. Copied by Nash A. Odem in 1962.
