ADCOCK - Timothy Adock, 2/19/09

Archelaus Mitchell Adcock, who is in the 1870 Census as "Artte Adcock", was born in Anson County, NC, and moved to Old Store, maybe as early as 1836.  He had sons born in NC, but lived most of their lives in Old Store.  The Malachi Adcock that was there in 1870, and in 1836; is Archelaus's cousin.  "Ar. M. Adcock", was helping Malachi, out in 1870, the census was taken twice.  Once in June (Malachi), and the other in August (Ar.M.)  I believe Archelaus, was buried in Old Store, around 1880/90's but would not know where.  I have been to Pageland, and Chesterfield (city), and can not find anything on him.  The 1870 census says that he owned land.  I'd like to find out where.  If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated.

GALE - Charlie L. Gale 3/11/09

I am seeking information on my GGG Grandfather, William C. Gale. The first record of him was 1820 Census Marlboro County, SC, with him being listed as head of household containing 3 males between the ages of 16 and 25.  He married Catherine A. (unknown), born about 1808, in Cheraw, Chesterfield County, SC.  He died August 20, 1828 in Cheraw.  His obituary in the Southern Radical, Cheraw, stated he was 30 years old and a native of Exeter, New Hampshire.  The obituary in the Portsmouth Journal, Portsmouth, NH, stated he was formerly a resident of that city.  Exeter and Portsmouth are both in Rockingham County, NH.

They had 3 sons, all born in Cheraw; John A. (my GG Grandfather), Charles William, and Thomas L.

I have been unable to locate the names of his parents or siblings, if any.  I appreciate any help and am willing to share what information I have.

SMITH - Joseph Bradley "Brad" Smith, Jr., 5/09/09

My father's family hails from Chesterfield, SC.  I am doing a genealogical search of my family at ancestry.com (under Peggy and Joes Folks) and my namesake lineage has stumped me.  At this point, I have my father's lineage in Chesterfield back to Riley (or Reilley) Fogeson Smith (1868-1937) and his spouse, Anna (or Annie) Jane Wallace (1871-1922).  I believe Mr. Smith's parents were an Isaac Smith (b 1813) and Jane Rivers (b 1828) but can find no evidence on them to verify this.  Ms. Wallace's parents may have been an H.H. Wallace and Sarah Ross.  I would appreciate any help you can give me to put me on the right direction.  Thanks so much.
