Mrs. John I. Bronson. Mrs. Harrie Laura Bronson, 82, died at her home in Barnwell at 12 o'clock Friday night after a short illness, although she had been in declining health for some time. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at four o'clock in the Church of the Holy Apostles by the rector, the Rev. J. A. Pinckney and the body was laid to rest in the adjoining churchyard. Mrs. Bronson, who was a daughter of the late Hon. Robert L. Tillinghast and Mrs. Sophia Elizabeth Tillinghast, was born January 29th, 1854, at Gillisonville, old Beaufort District. Her early girlhood was spent in Columbia, where, in January, 1883, she was married to the late John I. Bronson and came to Barnwell to make her home. Seven children were born to this union only three of whom survive: Mrs. A. R. Wallack, of Laurens; Robert L. Bronson, clerk of coura [sic] for Barnwell County, and John I. Bronson, Jr., both of Barnwell; three grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews, who have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement.

Dies in Columbia. Mrs. Elizabeth Ingram Dewey, wife of Charles Dewey, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Barnwell, died yesterday morning at the Columbia hospital. She was a patient at the hospital five days. Mrs. Dewey was 41 years of age and was a woman of pleasing personality, who had scores of friends who mourn her death. She is survived by her husband, Charles Dewey, and a six year old son, Harry Dewey, of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. H. L. Bronson, of Barnwell; two sister, Mrs. A. R. Wallack, of Denmark, and Miss Mamie Nell Bronson, of Barnwell, and three brothers, Max Bronson, R. L. Bronson, and John Bronson, all of Barnwell. The body will be taken to Barnwell this morning where services and interment will be made. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Howard Cady.

Body Laid to Rest. The body of Mrs. Charles Dewey, who died in a Columbia hospital Monday morning, was laid to rest yesterday (Wednesday) morning in the Episcopal Churchyard in this city, the Rev. Howard Cady conducting the funeral services in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends. The beautiful floral offerings that covered her last resting place bore silent witness to the love and esteem in which Mrs. Dewey was held by those who knew her. The news of Mrs. Dewey's death brought sadness to the hearts of many friends in Barnwell, her girlhood home. She was a woman of sterling character, brilliant mind and charming personality and there are scores who mourn her passing in the bright morning of life.

 

The Barnwell People-Sentinel, Barnwell, South Carolina, 20 May 1926 Mrs. Cleora Wallack Mrs. Cleora Bronson Wallack, 77, of Hendersonville, N. C., formerly of Barnwell, died Saturday in Pardee Memorial Hospital, Hendersonville. She was the widow of Andre R. Wallack, a prominent Carolina artist, and had operated art and gift stors [sic] in Clinton and Laurens and the Art Shop in Hendersonville. Surviving are a brother, John I. Bronson of Hendersonville and Barnwell [,] a niece, Mrs. Belva B. Bailey of Orangeburg, and four nephews, Harrie, Robert and William Bronson of Barnwell and Harry Dewey of New Gretna, N.J. Funeral services were at 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Church of the Holy Apostles in Barnwell.

Death of Miss Mamie Nell Bronson. The many friends of Miss Mamie Nell Bronson, of Barnwell, were profoundly shocked to learn of her death, which occurred Thursday afternoon about two o'clock at an Augusta hospital, where she had been taken a few days before. About a month ago Miss Bronson suffered an attack of influenza, which later developed into pneumonia with complications, the latter being the direct cause of her death. Her body was brought back to Barnwell Friday and laid to rest that afternoon in the Episcopal Churchyard, the funeral services being conducted by Archdeacon Joseph Burton, rector of the Church of the Holy Apostles, in the presence of a number of sorrowing relatives and sympathetic friends. Miss Bronson was the youngest daughter of Mrs. Harriett [sic] Bronson. During the World War she served as clerk in the office of the Local Draft Board and later worked in the office of her brother, Clerk of Court Rob't. L. Bronson. Besides her mother, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. A. R. Wallack, of Hendersonville, N. C., and three brothers, Max, Robert L. and John I. Bronson, all of this city, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

John Ingram Bronson
John Ingram Bronson, 71, retired druggist of Barnwell, died Saturday in Asheville, N.C. He was the son of the late John Ingram Bronson and Harrie Laura Tillinghast Bronson. He was born March 15, 1897, in Barnwell where he lived until 1958. From that time until 1966 he, having become an invalid, lived with his sister, Mrs. Andre R. Wallack of Hendersonville, N.C. He was the last of seven children. Survivors include four nephews, R.L. Bronson, Jr. and William T. Bronson, both of Barnwell; Harrie F. Bronson of Barnwell and White Sands, New Mexico; Harry Dewey of Beltsville, Md.; and a niece, Mrs. Robert L. Bailey of Orangeburg. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at the Episcopal cemetery in Barnwell with the Rev. Emmett Mullen conducting. Mole Funeral Home was in charge.
