To the Honorable the President and Members of the Senate The petition of the undersigned of the 2nd Battallion 23rd Regiment of South Carolina Militia Barnwell District Sheweth that they are at present labouring under a considerable degree of inconvenience owing to the immence distant that they have to go for the purpose of discharging militia duty in their ordinary musters And they further shew to your Honor that there ar three companies in said Battallion out of which may be composed a fourth without either company below the number  men required by law. Which will be to the satisfaction of the commanding officers of said companies and to the convenience of the said petitioners. We therefore humbly pray that your Honors may take your petitioners case into consideration and grant them such uses as to your Honors shall see merit.
